SOLDIERS’ PARCELS GATHERING IN AID OE FUNDS (“Times-Age” Special.) An enjoyable time was spent at the euchre party held in the Red Cross Society’s rooms on Monday in aid of the local soldiers’ overseas Christmas parcel fund. Miss Eva Card was the card winner, and Mrs Bladen won the mystery parcels fund. Donations were received from Mesdames McKenna, Hardy, O'Neale, Wakely, N. Matthews and Miss Goodrick. Sixty parcels have been packed and dispatched to the local service men overseas by the local ladies’ committee. Each parcel contains 211 b cake, a tin of ginger nuts, a tin of cream, a tin of paste, a pair of socks, a handkerchief, bootlaces, razor blades, a cake of chocolate, a toothbrush and paste. Personal Items. The death occurred in Christchurch on Saturday of Mrs Sybil Galbraith, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs G. M. Browne. She leaves a husband and two young children. Mrs J. T. Holland, Lower Hutt, was the guest of Mrs J. R. Higgs over the weekend. Miniature Rifle Club The following were the scores registered by members of the Featherston Miniature Rifle Club in a competition on Monday night:—D. Flynn, L. Rasmussen 98, Mrs Thurston, K. A meeting of the Featherston Croquet Club was held in the pavilion yesterday aftrenoon, Mrs Saunders presiding. Votes of sympathy were passed to Mr Holland, Mrs C. Edwards and Miss E. Viles. Three new members were elected. It was decided to hold a dance in the Town Hall. It was resolved that “club day” be held each Wednesday. COSY THEATRE “CAVALCADE.” Tonight the brilliant drama, “Cavalcade,” will be shown, and in which the chief roles are enacted by Diana Wynyard, Clive Brook, Margaret Lindsay, and Bonita Granville. “Cavalcade” is Noel Coward’s great epic of the Empire, and is a picture which should not be missed by those who appreciate cnly the best.
