NAZIS ON DEFENSIVE
CHANGE OVER IN PLANE PRODUCTION. FROM BOMBERS TO FIGHTERS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 1.5 p.m.) RUGBY, September 27. The United States Deputy Chief of Staff said in Washington that a change over in German production from bombers to fighters was the first evidence that Germany had abandoned the offensive and was now seeking the defensive for a stalemate. He said that Allied losses in ground fighting, especially equipment, had been heavy.
