IN OPERATIONS AGAINST JAPAN. NO NEWS OF 5,127 OFFICERS & MEN. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) CANBERRA, September 23. No news has yet been obtained by the Commonwealth Government of 5127 officers and men of the A.I.F. reported missing in military operations against the Japanese. Announcing this today, the Army Minister, Mr Forde, said it was known that 18,156 Australian soldiers were held prisoner of war by the Japanese. Every endeavour was being made to obtain information about “missing” men.
