LARGE AMOUNT VOTED IN BENGAL RICE STOCKS CONFISCATED. TO BE SOLD AT CONTROLLED PRICE. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day. 10.0 a.m.) LONDON, September 22. The Calcutta Legislative Assembly has voted famine expenditure of £2,640,000 sterling for 1943-1944, compared with £390.000 last year. The Bengal Government has released large quantities of flour and wheat, at controlled prices. > The Calcutta food authorities have confiscated 500,0001b5. of rice found in three shops in the city. The stocks are being sold at the controlled price.
