RISING TAXATION

A TRUE INTERPRETATION. It is remarkable to what lengths distortion can be carried in order to prove a case. The National Party claim that domestic taxation, apart from war taxation, will rise twenty-three shillings per head this year. They also admit that there is no increase in the rate of taxation this year. Therefore, the extra taxation must reflect increased earnings, increased business, increased prosperity. Yet, by implication, these are the very things that the National Party condemn. The truth of the - matter is that more people than ever before now earn enough to come within the income taxpaying class. And after taxation, is paid, people have more money left than ever before. The Labour Government has gone a long way in its goal of bringing economic freedom to every home. The Rt. Hon. Peter Fraser, its leader, has announced Labour’s plan for a minimum home and family income that will realise the goal fully. For national security, social security and economic security—vote Labour again!—Advt.
