WAIRARAPA COLLEGE
EXCEPTIONAL FACILITIES AVAILABLE FOR THE REHABILITATION OF SERVICE MEN. DISCUSSION AT LAST NlCiffT’S MEETING. “As a centre of technical instruction the Wairarapa College will play a big part in the rehabilitation of service men” observed Mr W. R. Nicol at last night’s meeting of the College Board of Governors, when emphasising that the board should have been represented on the local Rehabilitation commitee. „ T The chairman, Mr A. Owen Jones said the college was better suited than ever. . , “They are cramped for room in tne cities” said Mr Nicol. “Here we have the machinery and the buildings ana I hope that the returned men will take advantage of the facilities that are offering.” . Mr Jones said that so many institutions etc. were wanting to be represented on the local rehabilitation committee that it was likely to get cumbersome. Mr F. C. Daniell said the board had. slipped badly in not having had hospital buildings for service men erected on the college grounds. It was still not too late. Such buildings, he observed would be of great use after the war. Returned men, Mr Daniell added, could work in town during the day, live on the college grounds and attend night school. Mr Jones said he was in favour of the suggestion provided that a permanent structure which could ultimately be used as a hostel was erected. “I see no reason why we should not get a permanent building” said Mr Daniell. Mr Jones said he would take up tne matter with the local Rehabilitation committee with a view to the committee inspecting the college. “We have exceptional equipment and people do not realise it’ observed Mt Daniell. /
