Miss Richards, who was 23 years of age, was an enthusiastic worker in the Labour movement, and was in the habit of selling “The People’s Voice” at the railway station in her spare time. She was seen to jump from a carriage to the platform, fall on her face and roll over the edge. Apparently at least one carriage passed over her and she was dragged about 40 feet. One leg was almost severed between the ankle and knee, and she received extensive injuries to her body. She was taken to hospital by the Free Ambulance and died at 4.25 a.m. yesterday. Miss Richards resided at 238 The Terrace and was employed by the Waterfront Control Commission. Her parents live in Rotorua;
