Mrs John Cork, Nelson, is staying with her sister, Mrs E. J. Heffer, Lansdowne.

Mrs W. L. Hunter, Coradine Street, Masterton, has returned from a visit to Gisborne.

Mrs H. H. Dawson, Nelson, is ' the guest of Mrs G. Holmes, Sussex Street, Masterton.

Mrs B. Wilson, Renall Street, Masterton, has returned from a visit to Wellington. Mrs T. Bullock, Lansdowne, is at present a patient in the Masterton Public Hospital. Miss D. Haggit, Palmerston North, is 'the guest of Mrs H. M. A. Major, Pownall Street, Masterton. Mrs A. Mutrie, Hessey Street, Masterton, will celebrate her 90th birthday on Monday next. Miss Olga Spencer, Hastings, who is a weekend visitor to Masterton, is the guest of Mrs G. Dagg, Chapel Street. The death occurred at Woodville of Mrs Sarah Agnes Murphy, widow of Mr William John Murphy, at the age of 87 years. Mrs H. S. Skeet, Glen Oroua, is spending a few days with her parents, Mr and Mrs K. Scott, Tararua Street, Masterton.

The friends of Mrs F. S. Smaill, of Masterton, who is in the Lewisham Hospital, Wellington, will be pleased to hear that she is making a speedy recovery.

The death occurred at the Masterton Hospital yesterday of Mr Raphael Culajevich, of Carterton. He was born in Yugoslavia 68 years ago and came to New Zealand 54 years ago. He served in the Great War, being a member of the 4th New Zealand Reinforcements. He had resided in Carterton for a number of years. The funeral will take place in Masterton on Monday. leaving St. Patrick's Church, for the Masterton Cemetery after Requiem Mass at 9 a.m.

Kicked by Horse. Maurice Lund, aged 30 years, of Mangamaire, was admitted to the Masterton Hospital yesterday with a broken leg which he received when he was kicked by a horse. Democratic Labour. The policy of the Democratic Labour Party was put before the electors of Kaituna by Aircraftman D. A. Thompson last night. Aircraftman Thompson, who is a candidate for the Masterton seat, received an attentive hearing and was accorded a vote of thanks. Fire in Shed. The Masterton Fire Brigade was called out at about 11.20 o’clock this morning to a fire in an old shed at the rear of the “Daily Times” building, Church Street. The fire was quickly extinguished. Some damage was caused to the shed, which had a shingle roof. Labour Campaign. Two political meetings were addressed by Mr J. Robertson, Labour candidate for the Masterton seat yesterday, one at the Mikimiki sawmill late in the afternoon and the other at Nireaha in the evening. In spite of the boisterous weather there was a good attendance of electors at the Nireaha meeting, where Mr Robertson was accorded a vote of thanks and confidence. National Candidate’s Meetings. Last night, at Mauriceville East and at Mauriceville West, Mr G. H. Mackley, National Party candidate for the Masterton seat, addressed about fifty people who gave him an exceptionally good reception. At the East meeting Mr Alfred Forsberg was chairman. Mr W. Bird moved a vote of thanks and confidence, the seconder being Mr H. Mortensen. At the West meeting Mr J. A. Baine presided. Mr M. Welch moved a vote of thanks and confidence in the candidate. At both meetings the votes were unanimous.
