CLUB PREMISES

FOR NEW ZEALAND TROOPS IN NEW CALEDONIA. GENEROUS BRITISH GIFT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The secretary, Mr Hayden, reported to yesterday’s meeting of the Standing Committee of the National Patriotic Fund Board that a cheque for £5,000 had been received from the Anzae Division of the British War Relief Society towards the establishment of club premises in New Caledonia for New Zealand troops. The gift follows handsome contributions announced a few days ago as having been ordered, and also a gift of £l,OOO, a great part of which is to be used for buying Christmas gift parcels for New Zealand service personnel. The main purpose of premises at New Caledonia is to provide a leave centre for New Zealand personnel from all parts of the island. The amenities will include a large recreation hall, canteen, hairdressing saloon, sun porches, reading and writing rooms and a restaurant. AD DSplendid Achievement
