POLITICAL CAMPAIGN NATIONAL PARTY CANDIDATE AT PAHAUTEA. The National Party candidate for Wairarapa, Mr J. J. Maher, was in good form when he addressed a meeting at the Pahautea Hall on Tuesday afternoon. There were about 30 electors present. Mr C. C. Corlet presided. Mr Maher dealt with many aspects of the Labour Government’s administration, and gave it as his opinion that there was a very grave responsibility on the electors at this election to see that the right men were returned, so that a correct balance as to the rights and privileges of all sections of the community would not be in jeopardy. The candidate stressed the rights of the people to the Courts of Justice, and pointed out how committees could be set up with all kinds of power and jurisdiction, under which system there could be no appeal to the judicial courts as established under the British Constitution.
