LOSS OF BRYANSK
♦ ADMITTED BY GERMANS FIGHTING IN PARTS OF TOWN REPORTED BY CORRESPONDENT. SOVIET PROGRESS ON ALL FRONTS. LONDON, September 14, The German news agency states that the Germans.evacuated Bryansk during Sunday night-. A Moscow correspondent states that there are still some Germans in the town and that their positions are being stormed by the Russians. , Tonight’s Soviet communique reports further good progress on all main fronts in Southern Russia and the recapture of 300 towns and villages. During the day the Russians pushed back the enemy ten miles along the northern shore of the Sea of Azov and advanced a further 15 miles west of Stalino. Further north, Soviet forces are closing in on Pavlograd, the big railway centre less than 40 miles from the Dnieper. In the Northern Ukraine, the spearheads of the Red Army have reached a point 75 miles east of Kiev. The Russians today gained more ground in their drive towards Roslavl, half-way along the railway from Bryansk to Smolensk.
