ECONOMIC MINISTER
AMERICAN APPOINTMENT TO MIDDLE EAST. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) WASHINGTON, September 11. The White House has announced the resignation of Judge James Landis, Director of Civilian Defence, and his appointment as American Director of Economic Operations in the Middle East. The “New York Times” says that Judge Landis will be Mr R. G. Casey’s opposite number, holding the rank of Minister. He will in effect be economic Minister to all the American legations in the Middle East and the principal American civilian representative of the Middle East supply centre.
