CARTERTON SALE. LATE RATES MAINTAINED. Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., -report as follows on their Carterton sale yesterday: —A small yarding of sheep and cattle and a good yarding of pigs came forward. With the exception of weaner pigs which were slightly easier, prices were on a par with late rates. The following are some of the realisations: — Sheep: Prime hoggets, to 365; fat hoggets, 25s 4d, 265, 30s 6d, 31s 3d to 32s Gd; light fat hoggets, to 20s Gd; fat ewes, 30s 6d to 31s 6d. Cattle: Jersey cows, on drop. £9 to £11; springing cows, £3 10s to £7; Jersey heifers, on drop, £6 ss, £7 10s, £8 to £8 10s; springing heifers, £4 10s to £6; empty 2-yr. heifers, £4 2s, £4 12s 6d to £5 10s; fat cows, £5, £5 5s to £6 15s; forward cows, £3 ss, £3 15s. £4 2s 6d to £4 12s 6d; store cows, £2 2s 6d to £3; cull cows, 20s, 22s 6d to 355. Pigs: Forward stores, £2 4s, £2 7s t’o £2 16s; stores, 355, 365, 38s, 39s 6d io 425; slips, 31s, 325, 33s to 33s 6d; weaners. good, 26s 6d, 275, 28s to 295; weaners, medium. 23s 24s to 255; woaners, small, 20s, 21s 6d to 225.
