BOROUGH COUNCIL MONTHLY MEETING. (“Times-Age" Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Featherston Borough Council there were present: The Mayor (Mr J. WCard), Councillors S. P. Batcheler, G. A. Farrier, W. Boston, C. R. Skipage, B. B. Donald, C. C. Kenward, RR. P. Hardy and T. G. Hardie. The treasurer reported the following bank balances: —District Fund A/c., cr., £786 13s lid; Cemetery A/c., cr., £122 10s 2d; Domain A/c., cr., £44 16s 3d; Mayor’s Relief Fund A/c., cr., £74 14s 9d; Water Supply Loan, 1936 A/c., cr., £47 Is 3d; Library A/c., cr., £43 Us 7d. • . The secretary of the Swimming Club wrote asking if the baths could be painted. The matter was left in Councillor Skipage’s hands. The .Wairarapa P. and A. Society wrote reauesting that Thursday, .October 28, be declared a public holiday from 10 a.m. The request was granted subject to the usual conditions. The Minister of Public Works wrote stating that arrangements had been made for a sample of the kerbing and channelling made at a war camp to be supplied to the council. Miss J. Bimler wrote asking that the grader be used to clean up Woodward Street. It was reported that the work had been done. It was resolved that the council attend the saluting of the flag by the school children on Monday. It was decided to investigate the matter of the water getting into the sewerage' system in Fitzherbert Street. Early Spring Lamb. As in the uast years, Mr W. H. Davis, the local butcher, is again first in the field with Spring Lamb, which can be seen displayed in his shop. Although very early, the lambs reared locally are well matured. * COSY THEATRE “LOUISIANA PURCHASE.” The brilliant show in technicolour, “Louisiana Purchase,” will be shown tonight with Bob Hope, Zorina, and Victor Moore in the leading roles.
