CARTERTON
RACING CLUB MEETING OF STEWARDS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr W. Howard Booth presided over a meeting of stewards of the Carterton Racing Club last night. There were also present: Messrs G. E. Allen, P. Bain, J. C. Harp, V. L. Robinson, H. J. Brown, J. Johnson and E. J. Matson. A dr. balance of £384 was reported by the treasurer. The tender of- A. P. Southey and Son for the lease for 5 years for grazing purposes of the club’s property, without the cottage, was accepted. The tender of Mr T. G. Underhill for installing a bath in the cottage at the racecourse was accepted. It was resolved that the Carterton Racing Club be incorporated forthwith. It was decided to sell the plant except the necessary articles required by the racecourse committee. It was resolved that a letter be forwarded to Mr A. E. Booth expressing the club’s appreciation of his services. Personal. Pte. H. W. Morris, of Rhodes Street, Carterton, has left on a short visit to Hastings. Pte. Morris has received notification of his transfer from the Army to the Air Force. He will leave for Christchurch next week. There was a good attendance at the dance held in the Belvedere school room last evening under the auspices of the Belvedere Patriotic Committee, a most enjoyable time being spent. Miss M. Herrick provided excellent dance music. A novelty dance was won by Mr Sayer and Miss Buick. Supper was provided and presided over by the ladies of the district.
