TERRIFIC SENSATION
CAUSED IN THE BALKANS FLIMSY NAZI STRUCTURE SHAKEN. TENSION INCREASED GREATLY IN BULGARIA. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.50 a.m.) LONDON, September 9. The capitulation of Italy . has shaken the entire flimsy structure of Nazi order in South-East Europe. The British United Press Stockholm correspondent says this is clearly indicated in Swedish Press reports from the Balkan capitals. A Budapest correspondent says the news caused a terrific sensation throughout the Balkans, particularly in Hungary, Bulgaria and Croatia. Another Swedish report says the news has increased nervous tension in Bulgaria to an extent unparalleled since the death of King B’oris. The Bulgarian Parliament met in Sofia ostensibly to discuss the intricate problem created by the demand for the setting up of a Regent, but it is certain that events in Italy will have a considerable bearing on the assembly.
