NEW ZEALAND AIRMEN

♦ FULL PART IN RECENT OFFENSIVES. OVER CHANNEL & OCCUPIED FRANCE. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, September 6. The New Zealand Spitfire and Typhoon squadrons have taken their full share in recent widespread actions over the Channel. The Spitfires escorted Mitchells, Venturas and Bostons which bombed shipping at Boulogne. They joined another wing in a running fight between St. Omer and Bethune. The Typhoons attacked a target-tow-ing tug off Fecamp, set it on fire, and left it sinking. Wing Commander W. V. C. Compton, D.F.C. and Bar, Silver Star, Mission Bay, raised his score to 14J when he shot down a Focke Wulf 190 while his wing was escorting American Marauders attacking Ghent. Flight Lieutenant Gray Stenborg, Auckland, shot down a Focke-Wulf 190 and damaged another when 40 enemy planes attempted to attack Marauders bombing Saint Pol. Stenborg fought at Malta and has now shot down-11 enemy machines.
