PRICE OF POTATOES
NEW ORDER GAZETTED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Starting with a universal maximum consumer price of 7d per lb. for new potatoes, a price order, gazetted yesterday, provides for a steadily-declining consumer price, period by period, until the end of February, when it becomes 2|d per lb. in the North Island and in the Nelson district, and 3id elsewhere. Growers’ prices per ton, free on rail, sacks in, range from £42 10s (operating until September 30) to £ll in February for the North Island and Nelson grown (sold in Nelson district and the North Island), and from £42 10s (operating until November 30) to £lB in February elsewhere.
