Fire in Engine Shed.
The Masterton Fire Brigade turned out in response to a call received at 10.51 this morning to the Railway Station where a small fire in the roof of the engine shed was put out. Meeting at Brancepeth. ’Mr J. J. Maher, National Party candidate for the Wairarapa seat last night addressed a largely attended and enthusiastic meeting at the Brancepeth Hall. He was accorded an unanimous vote of confidence. Many questions were satisfactorily answered. Day of Prayer. In commemoration of the anniversary of the outbreak of war and in response to the wishes of the King to hold services of intercession, the Rev. David McNeur conducted a service at the Gladstone Hall yesterday afternoon. At Te Wharau, the Rev. J. McMaster officiated at a service held last night. Both these services were to have been conducted by the Rev. A. C. Lane, who was injured by a fall at the Regent Theatre shortly after noon.
