AMERICAN SERVICE CLUB
MRS LEARMONT TRANSFERRED PRESENTATION MADE The director of the American Red Cross Club at Masterton, Mrs Betty Learmont, has been transferred to the American Club at Wellington, where she wlil be canteen director. The high esteem in which Mrs Learmont is held was in evidence last night when she was made a presentation from the staff, volunteer workers and service men. Tribute was paid to the tactfulness, courtesy and efficiency in which she had carried out her work in establishing the club in Masterton. Mr George W. Coombe has been appointed to fill Mrs Learmont’s position. The club will hold the usual dance on Saturday night and on Sunday a stage review will be presented at the Regent Theatre. The programme will feature New Zealand’s Shirley Temple. Tea will follow at the club. On Monday nighty a special feature will be a “hobo” dance at which old clothes will be worn. •
