GERMAN ABUSE
NOT IMPRESSING SWEDEN RESOLUTE STAND TAKEN. INCREASING ANNOYANCE SHOWN BY NAZIS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.20 a.m.) LONDON, August 31. Criticism of Sweden, continues to be poured out by the German Press. The British United Press Stockholm correspondent says the Swedish Press particularly is accused of adopting an unneutral attitude, but Sweden is not impressed. A spokesman of the Swedish Foreign Office told the correspondent that: “Sweden is standing and will continue to stand on the position it originally adopted. The German contentions and allegations will certainly not be accepted.” Whether the Germans are just blustering, or intend to do something more drastic to Sweden, cannot be foretold adds the correspondent. What has 'especially annoyed the Germans is the increasingly anti-German tone in the leading articles of Swedish newspapers, even those which formerly were proNazi.
