DESIRE FOR PEACE
DECLARED IN FINNISH PETITION. SIGNED BY LEADING POLITICIANS AND OTHERS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, August 27. Twenty leading members of the Finnish Parliament, representing four parties and also several newspaper editors and two university representatives, were among the 33 signatories of a peace petition recently presented to President Ryti. Revealing, this, the Lahti radio, broadcasting in English, added that the full text of the petition was being printed in all Finnish newspapers today. The petition said particular concern was felt as a result 'f the deterioration of Finnish relations with the united States. An improvement of these relations must be a first objective of foreign policy, but other measures were necessary. Finland must be separated from her entanglement in the struggle between the Great Powers and seek by negotiation to achieve peace, freedom and independence.
