METROPOLITAN MEETING CHIEF EVENT TO COUNTLESS. RECORD TOTALISATOR TAKINGS (Ev Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, August 29. The Metropolitan Trotting Club’s National meeting concluded yesterday in fine weather before a large crowd. The track was on the heavy side. The totalisator handled £121,466, making a total for the two days of £226,221 10s. Yesterday’s totalisator takings constituted a record for a South Island trotting or galloping meeting. Last year there was only one day’s racing, when the totalisator handled £76.041 10s. Results:—
