ARGENTINE MEAT

THE RECENT AGREEMENT.

NO POLITICAL SIGNIFICANCE.

(British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.11 a.m.) RUGBY, August 29. The Foreign Office has issued a statement that the recent agreement, for the purchase of the exportable surplus of Argentine meat by the British Government on behalf of the United Nations, had no political significance. The statement recalls that, under the Washington memoranda of understanding, his Majesty’s Government agreed to purchase meat on behalf of the United Nations and the present contract was accordingly made with the full agreement of the United States Government.
