ESCAPE REPORTED

FROM GUARDED HOUSE IN ROME. COUNT CIANO AND FAMILY. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, August 29. Count Ciano, with his wife and three children, escaped from a house in Rome where they were guarded by eight secret police, says the German overseas radio, quoting the “Corriere Della Sera.” The Countess left the house yesterday morning and walked to the corner of the street, where she remained as though awaiting somebody. She afterwards- returned to the house and later left with her children. It became clear subsequently that Count Ciano had also left, it is believed in disguise. Count Ciano, Mussolini’s son-in-law, was formerly Italian Foreign Minister, and more recently Fascist Minister- to the Vatican.
