POST-WAR MIGRATION
BRITISH POLICY AND PLANS. DISCUSSED IN T.U.C. REPORT. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.20 a.m.) LONDON, August 22. The policy of the British Government is to encourage migration to the Dominions after the war, and facilities will be given to demobilised soldiers who wish to try openings in Commonwealth countries, states the Trades Union Congress report. The Government, according to the report, is also planning for the transfer of migrants' social insurance contributions and for maintaining their rights, which action is in accordance with the 1935 Geneva Convention.
The report adds that a study has been made of the experience of certain countries regarding the recruitment and selection of migrants and the organisation of settlement.
