FINNISH PEACE MOVE
4, BRITAIN ASKED TO ACT AS INTERMEDIARY. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, August 23. Another attempt to achieve a separate Finish peace was made during the- week-end when M. Vuori, leader of the Finish Trade Union Congress, flew to Sweden to confer with Mr Deakin, acting-general secretary of the British Transport and General Workers’ Union, who is now visiting Sweden, says the Stockholm correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph.” M. Vuori, as authorised representative of the Finish Government, presented to Mr Deakin a six-point memorandum. • the most important items of which were: First, would Britain, acting as intermediary, discover the terms' on which Russia was willing to conclude peace: secondly, is Britain willing and able to supply Finland immediately with coal, food, and other supplies if she concludes peace with Russia. Mr Deakin advised the Finns to make contact with the Russians direct.
