Mrs Way, College Street, Masterton. is visiting Christchurch. Miss W. Reed. Renall Street, Masterton, is spending a holiday at Mount Cook. Mrs R. J. Owen, Tawa Flat, is the guest of Mrs E. R. Jenkins, College Street, Masterton. Mr and Mrs H. Sharpies, Island Bay, Wellington, spent the weekend with Mr and Mrs E. R. Jenkins, College Street, Masterton.
The engagement is announced of Joan, eldest daughter of Mrs and the late Mr W. Gemmell. 21 Tararua Street. Masterton, to Lieut. H. S. Conrad. U.S.M.C., only son of John W. and the late Mrs Conrad. 32 Edwards Avenue. Walton, Kentucky.
Mr John Leonard Sullivan, of 37 Masters Crescent, Masterton, died in the New . Plymouth Hospital on Saturday, at the age of 38 years. Mr Sullivan. who was born at Christchurch, had been in ill health for about two years. Much sympathy will be extended to the widow and three young children in their bereavement. The funeral will take place in Masterton tomorrow, leaving St. Patrick's Church, following Mass at 8.30 a.m., for the cemetery.
