RUGBY UNION
MEETING AT CARTERTON LAST NIGHT. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr K, G. Fairbrother presided over a meeting of the Wairarapa Rugby Football Union held in Carterton last evening. The treasurer reported a credit balance of £67 10s lOd. The chairman referred to the death of Sub-Lieutenant J. Brown, of the Fleet Air Arm, who had played football for the Carterton seniors and the Wairarapa representativea. Members stood in silence for a few moments as a mark of respect. A letter oi sympathy is to be sent to his parents. 'The R.N.Z, Air Force wrote expressing thanks to the union for its assistance during the season just closed and forwarded a donation. Mr A. E. Booth was accorded a vote of thanks for assistance given to the.union al last Saturday’s game. It was decided to allow the Showgrounds to bo used on August 28 for a football match between the Featherston and Carterton Boy Scouts. It was decided to forward a donation of £6 to the Wairarapa P. and A. Society in appreciation of the Society having allowed the union the use of its grounds during the season.
A vote of thanks was passed to Mr W. A. Hart for his work as gate-keeper during the season.
