RAIDS IN BURMA

DAMAGE TO BUILDINGS AND SHIPS. NOT ONE AIRCRAFT MISSING. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.55 a.m.) RUGBY, August 20. On Thursday R.A.F. Mohawks attacked a town on the Chindwin River north of Kalena. Bombs were dropped in the target area and many buildings were hit. Buildings and river craft were machine-gunned and four sampans sunk. At Ramaree Island, bombs were dropped on Myaukpyi. Buildings were demolished and sampans damaged by mach-ine-gun fire. In the course of a moonlight offensive patrol on Wednesday night, a fifty foot river steamer and sampans on the Kiladam River were sunk. None of our aircraft is missing.
