GROWING IN NUMBER

- FRENCH CLANDESTINE PAPERS. Clandestine papers in France are on the increase, according to reports from the underground movement in France. The enemy are powerless to combat them. In 'addition to the clandestine edition of “L’Humanite,” the French Communist paper, there is now a clandestine edition of “Le Populaire,” the well-known Socialist Paris paper. Editors and their helpers are almost invariably shot when caught, but nothing can stop the production of the underground press. Within a few days, other patriots take up the work and cut comes the paper again. The story of the part played by this clandestine press in France will be found to be. a wonderful one when it is learned in its entirety. •
