* Mr and Mrs E. J. Heffer, “Highmore,” Lansdowne, announce the engagement of their only daughter, Pamela June, to Lieut. Richard Steuart, only son of Mr and Mrs H. S. Benner, “Asgeria,” Kerikeri Central, Bay of Islands. D*. C. Prendergast Knight has been re-elected president of the New Zealand Gas Association for the 26th year in succession. The association is representative of all gas enterprises, municipal and other. Dr. Knight is chairman of the Wellington Gas Company. The death occurred recently of Mr E. T. Poulton, Takapau, Hawke's Bay. On the outbreak of the Boer war he enlisted as a rough-rider. After returning to New Zealand he became an inspector for the Hawke's Bay Rabbit Board. With his brother he then took up a block at Forest Gate. Disposing of this property, the brothers took up land at Kumeroa and Makuri which they hold today.
