CLAIMS FOR WAGES

CHANGE OF PROCEDURE IN VIEW. HOSPITAL BOARD LODGES OBJECTION. ’ An emphatic protest against proposed legislation under which all claims for wages would be heard by the Arbitration Court and not the civil courts was entered at yesterday's meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital Board. Mr W. B. Martin said, as the Arbitration Court never sat in Masterton it meant cases being taken to Wellington, which was very. inconvenient, to say the least. Mr J. F. Thompson: “There would be no right of appeal. That is totalitarianism.” It was decided to enter an emphatic protest against the proposed legislation.
