Mrs A. C. Major, Upper Plain, is on a visit to Invercargill. Mrs A. T. Thompson, Upper Plain, is visiting Christchurch.
• Mrs F. Moss, who has been staying with her mother, Mrs W. McKenzie, Essex Street, Masterton, has returned' to' Huntly.
Mr G. W. Chatwin has been elected a life member of the Pahiatua Bowling Club, in recognition of the work he had carried out in the interests of the club over a long period of years.
The appointment of Mr S. A. Chisholm as Director of Stabilisation was announced yesterday by the Minister in charge of Stabilisation, Mr Sullivan. He said that the appointment was consequent on Mr B. C. Ashwin, Secretary to the Treasury, who had been actingdirector, becoming chairman of the Stabilisation Commission.
