Bookmakers Fined.

Fines aggregating £420 were imposed on five bookmakers by Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court, Palmerston North, yesterday. American Service Club.

Address to Employees. The employees of Masterton business concerns who wished to meet Mr G. H. Mackley, National Party candidate for the Masterton seat, assembled in the A. and P. Rooms last evening, when Mr Mackley spoke of the political problems of the day. Mr J. Macfarlane Laing presided over a good attendance. IMr Mackley was accorded a vote oi ‘thanks.
