SUDDEN DEATH

MR JEREMIAH SAVAGE.

..COLLAPSE AT FUNERAL.

While attending the funeral of the late Nurse Spellman this morning, Mr Jeremiah Savage collapsed outside St. Patrick's Church and was admitted to the Masterton Hospital. He died soon after his admission.

The late Mr Savage, who was born in County Kerry, Ireland, 72 years ago, came to New Zealand when he was 12 years of age. He had lived in the Wairarapa district for the past 60 years. He worked on Annedale Station, Tinui, for 27 years, before taking up farming xon his own. He owned Puketawa Station. Five years ago he retired from active farming and had lived recently in Masterton. He acted in an advisory capacity on the Te Ore Ore River Board. Mr Savage was of a kindly disposition, and was well known throughout the district. He was a prominent member of St. Patrick’s Church. A widow, three sons and three daughters are left to mourn their loss. The sons are Messrs John (Puketawa), Bernard (overseas), and Peter Savage (Solway), and the daughters Mesdames A. Scally (Christchurch) and W. Myers (Lower Hutt), and Miss Ann Savage (Masterton). The funeral will take place on Thursday, leaving St. Patrick’s Church following Requiem Mass at 10 a.m. for the Masterton Cemetery.
