EXCELLENT CONCERT

OUTSTANDING ABILITY. SHOWN BY MANY PERFORMERS. The Regent Theatre was packed with Service men when Mrs Miller Hope's concert party gave an entertainment under the auspices of the Interhouse Association. The programme was a particularly popular one and the items were vociferously applauded, encores in the finish having .to be curtailed on account of the length of time thus entailed. The performers gave an excellent account of themselves and high praise was heard on all sides concerning their ability. The ballets and dances especially were outstanding items on the programme and were performed with great skill. Mr Harry Hall's comic songs were also a feature. Other excellent items were given by Miss Ola Curry (sailor’s hornpipe), Miss Jamieson (songs), Mrs Headley (recitation), Leading Aircraftman T. Spain (magic), Miss V. Price (dance), Miss M. Fulton (solo), Mrs R. Miller (recitation), D. Irwin and D. Davey. The accompaniments were played by Mr and Mrs Miller Hope and Miss Mollie Iveson. Mrs Lilian McKenzie and Mr Fred Price were responsible for the making up of those taking part in the ballets, etc.

The members of the ballet were Misses Valmai Price, Betty Jones, Ola Curry, Joan Naan, Hura Tauwharc and Norma Brown. Those in the chorus were Misses Norma Brown, Sheila Kennedy, Kathleen Condon, Florence Bellis, Hura Tauwhare, Helen Bannister, Beris Perrin, Nancy Cotton, Mona Fulton, Marie Stilburn, Claire Riddell, Heather Douglas, Gwenda Barber, Dorothy Lyttle, Jean Stewart, Nola Goodwin and June Dickason. Later the performers were entertained at afternoon tea at the American Red Cross Service Club.
