SUCCESSFUL GAMES NIGHT
(“Times-Age" Special.)
The Patriotic Society held a successful games night on Saturday evening, the winners al cards being: Ladies, Mrs Taverner; men, Mr R. Nordloff. Ladies’ aggregate, Mrs Yarrall (prize donated by Mrs Algie); men, Mr J. Hull (Mr J. McKay’s trophy); consolation, Mrs G. Godinagh and Mr F. Nordloff. A competition for a box of chocolates was won by Mr O. Walker. A grocery parcel was won by Mrs FI. Percy. The following goods were donated and auctioned: A book of Western stories from Mrs Yarrall realised 8s; jonquils donated by Mrs Weston; honey (Mrs FI. Percy), 7s 3d; mixed vegetables and hubarb roots (Chas Leach, 30s. The hostesses were Mesdames Godinagh, Leach and Taverner. Women’s Institute. At the monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute, Mrs Hull presided. Arrangements were made for the holding of the Institute’s thirteenth birthday on August 27. A cake is to be raffled, the proceeds to go towards the overseas soldiers’ Christmas parcels. The time at the meeting was spent in mending soldiers’ clothing. The hostesses were Mrs Hull and Miss E. Leach.
