FEATHERSTON

A BRILLIANT SCENE R.S.A. BALL LAST NIGHT. (“Times-Age" Special.) There was a brilliant scene at the Town Hall last night, when the Featherston branch of the Returned Services’ Association held its annual ball The hall was artistically decorated with greenery and gaily coloured paper delphiniums. 'I he ball was admirably conducted, and the record crowd which thronged the hall spent a most enjoyable time.

The hostesses were Mesdames H. Lawson, Q. Donald, D. FI. S. Riddiford and Miss H. Card.

Supper was served by a committee headed by Mrs G. Brandon. The supper table decorations were effectively carried out in japonica and camellias. The music was supplied by Mrs V. J. Ashton’s orchestra, and the dance programme featured waltzes for servicemen of the last and present war and their partners. Messrs G. Hyland and H. Graham were efficient M's.C.

A lucky spot competition was won by Miss June Hall and Mr C. J. Carle.

The president of the Featherston branch of the R.S.A., Mr H. Lawson, was absent on account of illness. The committee extends its appreciation to all those who helped in the successful running of the ball, and who gave donations. PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH At the annual meeting of the Presbyterian Church, Mr T. Hardie (treasurer), presented the balance sheet which was considered most satisfactory. Stock Drowned. It is reported that sheep and calves were drowned by the flooding of the Ruamahanga River this week. COSY THEATRE TWO BIG FEATURES There will be two big features shown at the Cosy Theatre tonight. In "The Get Away." there is an excellent dramatic story with Robert Stirling and Charles Winninger in the chief roles. "The Strange Case of Doctor RX” is an exciting story, featuring Lionel Atwill and Patrie Knowles.
