ARRESTED IN ITALY
MAN WHO PLANNED MURDER OF MATTEOTTI ALLEGEDLY AT MUSSOLINI’S INSTIGATION. FARCICAL TRIAL & SENTENCE RECALLED. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.55 a.m.) LONDON, August 12. The Italian police have arrested Amerigo Dumini, who planned the murder of the Italian Socialist leader and Deputy, Matteotti, in 1924, according to the Rome newspaper “Messagero.” Following on the murder of Matteotti„ Mussolini was accused of instigating the crime to rid himself of a dangerous opponent. Dumini was sentenced to five years’ in gaol for an “unpremeditated killing,” but was released soon afterwards. Another message states that Dumini betook himself to Libya, but was forced by the Allied conquest of that territory to return to Italy.
