The Awarua Labour Representation Committee has decided not to nominate a candidate to oppose the sitting National Party member, Brigadier J. Hargest, who is now in Switzerland after escaping from a prisoners of war camp in Italy. PALMERSTON NORTH. NO NATIONAL CANDIDATE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, This Day. “Scrim” made bitter attacks on the Opposition every Sunday night he was not disciplined, but what a different story when he turned round on the Government. The Prime Minister said the controller was not dismissed because of the record, but had it been heard before he would have asked for his dismissal. He knew of no Minister who had heard the record before the dismissal of the controller. It showed a degeneiacy that could not be tolerated. The amalgamation of the two services was under consideration. There would be men controlling each, but by an amalgamation there would be savings in staff and duplication would be avoided. The vote was passed.
