The Scrimgeour Incident. The New Zealand Federation of Labour has passed a motion in similar terms to that passed by the Wellington Trades Council approving of the dismissal of the Controller of Commercial Broadcasting, Mr C. G. Scrimgeour.

Cyclist Injured. Ross Bishop, aged 12 years, of 9 Grey Street, Masterton, was admitted to the Masterton Hospital at 3.30 p.m. yesterday with cuts and abrasions to his face. While cycling he ran into a telegraph pole. His condition is' reported to be satisfactory. Collecting of Stamps.

The annual report of the Masterton Methodist Missionary Auxiliary states that Mrs Blane continues to do good work in sending many thousands of used stamps to the dealers. Much work is entailed in cleaning, sorting and counting the stamps ready for sale. A gift of used stamps has been received from the Men’s Fellowship.

Lambing Time. Throughout the district lambs are making their appearance. Considering the autumn drought conditions the ewes are in fairly good condition and percentages are expected to approach last season’s good average. Some cases have been reported of ewes being affected by sleeping sickness but the number is not out of the ordinary. Work of Parliament. A heavy programme of work faces the House of Representatives in the three weeks remaining before the dissolution of Parliament. Two important measures have yet to be debated, the Service Men’s Settlement and Land Sales Bill, and the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Bill. Several items of legislation have still to be introduced. These include a Social Security Amendment Bill, War Pensions Amendment Bill, Reciprocal Pensions Bill, and one dealing with workers' compensation. Only about half the departmental estimates have so far been passed.
