GOLF CLUB MEDAL COMPETITION. (“Times-Age” Special.) The third medal round was playea on the Gum Grove links on Saturday, the best scores being: —Mrs Gillott, 76. 1; Mrs Roy Donald, 78, 2; Miss Mary Ruane, 80, 3. Personal Items. Mrs C. J. Carlyon, who has been on an extended visit to- the Taranaki district 1 , has returned home. In a letter received recently by his parents, Sub.-Lieutenant John S. Raper is now serving with the Royal Navy in the Mediterranean after 12 months’ service in a corvette in the Atlantic. Patriotic Dance. The Junior Patriotic Committee was responsible for a very successful dance in the Town Hall on Saturday night, there being a very large attendance. Mr L. Daysh’s Orchestra provided the music, and much appreciated extras were played by Misses G. Fraser and C. Saba. Mr Peter Habib carried out the duties of M.C. Competitions were won by Miss Folly Cherry and Mr L. Bicknell.
COSY THEATRE “CONFIRM OR DENY." On Wednesday night there will be shown the thrilling drama, “Confirm or Deny,” with Joan Bennett, Roddy McDowell and Don Ameche in the chief roles.
