CARTERTON

BAND PATRON TO BE ENTERTAINED. (“Times-Age” Special.) On Thursday evening after practice the committee of the Carterton Band will meet to arrange a social gathering in honour of their patron, Mr W. B. Allen, who this month will reach his 96th birthday. S.M. Court Sitting. The monthly sitting of the Carterton S.M. Court will be held on Wednesday afternoon. A case brought by the Carterton Borough Council under the Dog By-law wil be defended. Motor Car Wrecked. When a car owned by Mrs Tait, of Clareville, left the Carterton-Greytown main highway a few yards past the Waihakeke road corner on Saturday night it somersaulted several times and was damaged beyond repair. The six Marines stated to be in the car received bruises and cuts but had a fortunate escape from serious injuries.

Personal Items. Mr J. A. Taylor, of Ekctahuna, is visiting Carterton.

Welcome Home Gathering.

The settlers of the Parkvale district will tender on Wednesday night at the .Parkvale,Hall a welcome home to Lance Corporal Gordon Campbell and Private Leo Smith, both of whom recently returned from overseas on furlough.

Tonight the brilliant comedy, “Nothing but the Truth,” will be shown, with Bob Hope and Paulette Goddard portraying the chief characters.
