DISASTROUS AIR CRASH
FOURTEEN CIVILIANS KILLED IN BRITAIN. LONDON, August 7. Fourteen persons, apart from the crew, were killed when a R.A.F. plane crashed during exercises at Winslow. The plane struck a tree, bounced of! on to the roof of a house, wrecked a public house on the opposite side of the street, and then ploughed into and set on fir e some cottages. The licensee of the public house was killed, as well as members of five families in the cottages.
