AIR SCOUTS COURSE OF RIFLE SHOOTING. . (“Times- Age” Special.) The Air Scout Cadets, under the senior officer, Mr Hardy, completed their course of rille shooting at the State Theatre last night. They were instructed in their shooting by three members of the Carterton Miniature Rifle Club, whose guns and range they were using. The boys acquitted themselves well.

Veterinary Surgeon Appointed. •At a meeting of'the Wairarapa Veterinary Service Association held yesterday, Dr.' C. Van Gomez, of Richmond, Nelson, was appointed veterinary surgeon. He will reside in Carterton and commence his duties on September 1.

Boy Scouts’ Card Party. A.t the weekly card tournament held by the Carterton Boy Scout Citizens Committee, there was a good attendance. The prizes were won as follows:—Ladies: Mrs Brown, 1; Mrs A. Personal. Mr E. McKenzie, of Faraday Street, Carterton, has been appointed a Justice of the Peace. Lecture on Palestine. At the Masonic Hall last night, Miss Waterston, who is lecturing throughout the Wairarapa on “The signs in the world heralding the end of the age and the return of the Messiah,” gave a lecture on the transformation of Palestine since 1917 by the returned Jews. Many beautiful slides were shown of some of the 200 agricultural colonies that had grown up under the help of the Palestine Agency and the Zionist Movement. Many prophecies of Isaiah. Jeremiah and Eyekiel were shown to be fulfilled in this return to the Holy Land. The lecturer told of a great movement within Jewry that recognised these fulfillments and were preparing themselves for the future des tiny of Palestine. The subject on Thursday next will be “The New Jerusalem outside the City Walls.” REGENT THEATRE DOUBLE PROGRAMME. There will be finally shown tonight the brilliant comedy “Old Mother Riley in Business (featuring Arthur Duncan), and the great laugh producer. “Henry and Dizzy,” starring Jimmy Lydon and Mary Anderson.
