SUNDERLAND FIGHTS SEVEN JUNKERS OVER THE BAY OF BISCAY. ONE ENEMY PLANE PROBABLY DESTROYED. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.25 a.m.) RUGBY, August 5. A Coastal Command Sunderland, of a Royal Australian Air Force squadron, fought off seven Junkers 88s over the Bay of Biscay recently, possibly destroying one and damaging others. Finally, with the nose gunner killed and four other members of the crew wounded and the aircraft badly damaged, the captain succeeded in gaining cloud cov- i er and returning to his base.
