PIRINOA

TRIBAL COMMITTEE MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Wairarapa Tribal Executive was held at Papawai at the week-end. There was a large attendance of delegates. The chairman, Mr P. H. Paku, presided. A welcome was tendered by the chairman to the delegates of the newly formed Te Whiti Cominittee. An apology tor absence was received from Mr G. Te Whaiii, owing to illness. A letter was received from the Hon. E. Tirikatene, thanking the committee for a letter of congratulation on his appointment to Cabinet rank. The Wairarapa Maori Women's Auxiliary wrote asking for financial assistance in connection with providing parcels for overseas. It was decided to instruct the secretary to obtain fuller particulars as to the activities of the organisation.

The resignation of Mr S. T. Potangaroa was received with regret. Delegates reported on the work of the various committees.

Lieut. Manihera gave a report of his activities during July. Several matters brought up at the recent conference at Wairoa were discussed at length. The next meeting of the Executive will be held at Masterton.

Maori War Effort,

The secretary of the Wairarapa Tribal Executive reported at a meeting at the week-end that a sum of £5OO had been invested in the Government loan by the various Tribal Committees of the Wairarapa.
