NO FURTHER GRACE
TO BE GRANTED TO ITALY
UNLEASHING GF FULL-SCALE WAR
ONLY TO BE TERMINATED BY SURRENDER.
(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 1.15 p.m.) LONDON, August 2. In an atmosphere charged afresh almost hourly with new reports of growing ferment throughout Italy, coupled with renewed Allied warnings to the Italians, the War Cabinet met again in London tonight, after daylong conferences between the Service chiefs. It is learned that no approach has yet been made by the Italian Government with an appeal for an armistice. The “Daily Express’’ says the threatened unleashing of full-scale war against Italy now comes into effect. No further period of grace is being allowed. Special steps have been taken to make it clear to King Victor and Marshal Badoglio that the Allies will not modify their terms, whatever action Italy may take, and that there is nothing further to hope for from further delay.
