BUILDING SOCIETY MEETING OF SHAREHOLDERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr L. H. Smart presided over a meeting of shareholders of the Walrarapa lerminating Building Society when a ballot for £6OO free of interest was won by Mr U. R. Peulter. METHODIST CHURCH SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. A “silver tree evening” was held in the Carterton Methodist Sunday School Hall when a large audience showed its appreciatlon of the splendid programme which was provided by a party of singers, etc... from Masterton. Mrs H. Speight gave pianoforte and vocal items; Misses Goldsbury and Jamieson, solos and duets; and Mrs Leadley elocutionary numbers. On the mqtion or Mr W Vaughan a hearty vote of thanks was passed to the performers. The Rev. G. H. Goodman, of Masterton, replied. After the opening of the “bags, which resulted in a record amount being added lo the church funds, supper was served by members of the Ladies' Guild. Personal Items. Private Gordon Udy, a former junior football selector, was present at last night s meeting of the Walrarapa Rugby Union and was accorded a hearty welcome by the president. Mr Fairbrother. Compulsory Parade. No 28 Company of the Traffic Control Corps, will hold a compulsory quarterly parade at Memorial Park, Greytown, tomorrow morning. Valued Souvenir Lost. An olive wood jewel box lined with red satin and containing photos of the Middle East campaign, has been lost in Carterton. and Mrs B. O. Taylor. Carrington, would be pleased to have it returned to her as it belonged to Chaplain Major H. G. Taylor, D. 5.0.. who is serving with forces overseas. REGENT THEATRE “JUNGLE BOOK.” Kipling’s immortal adventure, “Jungle Book.” will be shown tonight.
